@wmvaux4 years ago Torpedoes aren't kicked as often these days as coaches want more accurate and less risk which is why they kick a drop punt most of the time. Torps are generally kicked when a player is kicking for goal outside the 50 metre arc or occasionally when kicking in from a behind that has been scored. They used to kick drop kicks and had a kick called a stab pass back in the 60's and before, but these kicks faded out because of the percentage not hitting the player. ...

@Punkologist4 years ago You have a lot of Aussie's watching your show now since you have been talking about AFL. The China experiment has been an epic failure. The AFL played a few exhibition games in the states back in the 80s, but kind of gave up on the idea.
On the flip side, the NFL is getting more and more popular here every year. Superbowl Sunday (Monday morning for us) is a huge event now, a lot of people take the day off work and get stuck into the beers at 7am haha. Pubs and big event venues hold Superbowl parties and do special drinks and food deals, we have guest ex-NFL players coming to events. (like former punter's Ben Graham and Sav Rocca). ...

@shand5544 years ago Pat try the bigger AFL ball if you can, you'll kick it far too but I doubt 80 yards. Also look up Dustin Fletcher he could really kick a good torp (torpedo) but they're nowhere near as accurate 1

@mithrasrevisited48734 years ago The AFL is a little crazy now. The West Australian teams and "hubbing" in Queensland to play their matches. It takes away their home ground advantage when things change over and they can hub in WA the results may change. The shorter quarters will help the older players so the season is very unpredictable. Essendon player test positive to COVID-19 which has put some players in quarantine so their side will be weakened. The season is going to be hard to pick, it is the case of the sides who can persist. The Torpedo is long but unpredictable for passing, you do not want a long hang time in AFL it is geting to the other player quickly. Teams well in front tend to use it in the last quarters. Another kick now extinct was the drop kick. It was popular in the 60's. ...

@joshrees19854 years ago Wow you guys know a lot about AFL Footy? it is not as big in my City Australia,Sydney ,New South Wales where Rugby League is the number one game in town can Pat check out the Cronulla Sharks or the Parramatta Eels in National Rugby League my first Cronulla team which have one championship to their name in 2016 I have been a fan of this club all my life but my friend’s a trainer for the Parramatta Eels which are tipped to win the championship this year ...
