This training where the Integrated Asset Management is presented is very beneficial and positive for the municipalities. However, we have a problem in Kosovo, due to legal framework. Namely, although citizens request responsibility from the municipalities for the water and sewerage network, in fact the management and control of these assets is carried out by the Ministry, rather than the municipalities. Hence, in order to have a proper response we believe that the legal framework should be changed so more responsibility and influence is given to the municipalities for the operation of the Regional Water Companies. Actually, despite the fact they are named Regional Water Companies, we don’t have access to the information about the performance of the companiesand we don’t have any representatives in theirBoards, thus as a consequence we can’t acquire the necessary information. Of course, such programme allows us to have a clear view of the assets and what municipalities possess. However, as I already said, it is of an utmost importance for us to have access and accountability over the Regional WaterCompanies, as it is demanded by the municipalities, but unfortunately it does not exist in the relevant laws, said Faruk Mujka, Vice Mayor of Mitrovica, Kosovo
