2009-PLEASANTON POETRY, PROSE & ARTS FESTIVAL

The 8th annual Poetry Prose and Arts Festival took place on Saturday and Sunday, April 4 & 5 at the Pleasanton Senior Center 5353 Sunol Boulevard. The event included readings by Dana Gioia, a poet, critic, and best-selling anthologist who recently served as chairman for the National Endowment for the Arts. Al Young, poet laureate emeritus of California,was also on the program again, returning after being the keynote speaker in 2006. Featured events: • Poetry and Prose mini-courses and 13 workshops for adult writers, youths and teenagers. • Poetry and prose contest with $1200 in prizes • Literary Row, PAL visual arts show, Awards Banquet, & music with music by harpist Dominique Piana, authors' reception, book signing and literary row.
