@IsaacChew8 months agoThanks Thomas for reviewing this. I like it when multiple youtubers review the same item. As it can help the viewer triangulate and verify what is said. One viewer below mentions that this speaker has been reviewed by another youtube reviewer. That is a good thing. ...

@gerihifi8 months agoThanks a lot Thomas!! I appreciate you also give smaller manufactor builders a chance. Sure you know where they are going through, due your own Galion project and therefore you give them kudos. Still in this price range for bookshelfs, they need to be refined for more common use, else you would need a lot of listening sessions before buying. Like you said, its all about taste and bookshelf are always picky to place. Realy, really appreciate your reviews, keep going!! ...1

@abhimawa13 months agoGood review, Thomas. I gave a listen to its top line system at a local high end audio show, and might not suit my liking (as well as to some friends). For such price, the Gryphon system which was happened to be there, similarly priced (if not cheaper), far satisfied our taste. As for Indonesia itself, it is the home of Sinar Baja Acoustics that produces some high end speakers, but these Alexandria didn’t come from there to my knowledge. I guess we shouldn’t be buoyed by the Emperor’s new groove phenomenon (which happens quite often in Indonesia; more expensive + looking luxurious →‘high quality’ BS) ...1

@raphaelmeillat85277 months agoLove that you're reviewing less known brands. Helps to raise awareness about smaller shops. Having said that, at this price point, unless they have a crazy flexible trial policy and assuming that you can trust them with your money, it's hard to imagine one would buy without listening to it at a dealer store. And so far, I have yet to see this brand anywhere near me in Europe. ...2

@Projacked18 months agoI solved the shoutyness of dual-concentric speakers also with proper placement. They do require more listening to different types of music, and more time to get placement in the sweet spot. But man it's so worth your time. ...1

@Greg.Siucrazyforaudio20168 months agoUS$6500 for most people, it's out of reach price , including me , the klh speakers are more affordable in high-quality sound not in high-quality price. Thank you for the review Thomas, it's good to know they existed 🏆🏆.......cheers . ...1

@lsaideOK8 months agoI would appreciate having a little more detail about the positioning. How far were they from you when set up optimally? How far were they from each other and how far out into the room were they? And did you have them facing out into the room or towards you? ...3

@ptbfrch8 months agoCould the frequency inconsistency be because of the distance between the acoustic centers? The height adjustment with Audio Buddy using different stands shows a potential vertical off axis frequency response issue. 1

@RedSinter8 months agoYes, I have as I've seen so seriously delicious looking speakers from Indonesia in general. And some were not surprisingly Chinese. With serious engineering cajones. Like layered CNC cut boxes that accounted for Bass reflex tuning. They were obviously heavy. So, Thomas at what location did you find ..that Magic? Oh, and slightly off subject you might want to check out Danny Richey's GR Research overhaul if the Kef RF. 😂 Russ is an excellent example of the opinion...to each his own. I've always thought no matter how positive a speaker review is only the starting point. No two people physically have the same shape ear canals, thickness or thinness of tissue and or bone location and density, and personal mentality of how one precieves the sound they hear. Yes, we xan all agree on many consistant factors Air, Sound Stage, Nutrality, Linearity etc., but for the human element. ...1

@
@crtgamer23558 months agoI know this is very obvious, but did you try lowering the input volume from the source? You can make any speaker as forward sounding or mellow depending on the input volume. Many modern recordings are way too loud. Use a VU meter to get your source volume to 0 or +3dB max, then into the amp. When you turn your volume knob only slightly up and it's already loud, you know you have a problem. ...1

@mpi58508 months agoYou seem to have gone out of your way to give them a positive review because you empathized with the fact that this is a start-up. They sounded aggressive but “hold on” - if you use shorter stands, or vary the distance of the listening position, or rearrange the furniture, or, or, or… Also, at US$6,500 this fully demonstrates the pitfalls of buying “boutique” speakers. An established company with volume can make these for less than half that price. Case in point, the new KEF R3 Metas are almost 1/3 the price and I have no doubt sound better. I mean, you can get premium Dynaudio bookshelves at that price, to name only one marquee brand. Hard pass. ...4
