I found this greater hammerhead shark that appears to have very recently died and washed ashore. By the looks not at the hands of humans as there are no indications of hooks or any damage, it’s a super rare opportunity so I thought I’d use my platform to find some qualified experts or those authorised shark biologists that might want to do research on the shark or instruct me to help, we might be able to help find out more about the species and raise awareness as I am in no way qualified, please hit me up ASAP if I can help in anyway! cheers Shop - https://youngbloods.co Main Channel - /youngbloods Follow Brodie - https://www.instagram.com/brodiemoss/?hl=en https://www.tiktok.com/@ ybsbrodie?lang=en REDDIT - https://www.reddit.com/r/YBSyoungbloodsfamily/

@nickdaniel2331منذ 3 سنوات I’ve heard of dolphins killing sharks when they have young around. They swim into the sharks under sides and make impact with their snout. It’s definitely rare and I’m no expert. But it has happened here in Newport Beach, California.
Always makes my day to see your videos. Cheers

@selachianseas999منذ 3 سنوات A necropsy would be needed to check for injuries - the bleeding from the mouth and gills does suggest some kind of internal damage. Hammerheads are known id="hidden3" class="buttons"> to have high post-release mortality unless hauled quickly; here in Florida we typically see a number of them wash up dead from shore-based fishermen who don't handle them properly. That carcass looks very fresh, so it likely died there in the shallows. ....وسعت 2

@reconnaissance7372منذ 3 سنوات The blood expelling from the mouth is a sign of internal bleeding most likely caused by impacting a sea vessel I would assume. 4

@sharkbite5744منذ 3 سنوات Looked super healthy and the bleeding seems very strange, surely once the heart has stopped there shouldn’t be blood loss like that. I know that these type of sharks do very badly after being hooked one of the worse in fact, maybe carefully try and open the mouth and see if there is any signs of being hooked inside possibly could be where the blood loss is coming from as it didn’t seem to be from the gills. ....وسعت 3

@donnydoom9012منذ 3 سنوات I'm not a Marine Biologist but I play one on YouTube, and I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night. That being said my best guess would be it ingested id="hidden9" class="buttons"> something that got lodged internally. As a recreational fisherman for over 40 years in Florida I have seen many times where sharks will die swallowing fish with large hooks/ lures from fisherman that were cut off , but the fish still swim around injured. (easy prey for the shark). They swallow the head off the fish whole and ingest the hooks protruding from the fish. Leading to a slow death. Stainless Steel hooks take a long time to break down even in salt water. That would explain the blood with no visible puncture wounds. Just a guess, really could be many things. ....وسعت

Long shot, but check its tail and pecs for nibble tooth marks. I havent seen it in 30 yrs gamefishing, id="hidden10" class="buttons"> but over here off Sydney the dolphins are known to sometimes drown small hammers and whalers after beating them up. Dolphins can be absolute thugs when they get bored or feel like showing off to their mates. We tend to always see their "nice" side.
    Great vids btw. Beautiful.

@andrewbaranski3942منذ 3 سنوات opening the gut content is usually the first thing you'd do with a dead animal , very likely its what they have ingested if its not a bigger shark that has obviously done it or its not been tangled in fishing wire

@mdv2043منذ 3 سنوات First two things I would check for is hook marks inside mouth and or gills. Hammers are lean fish and actually die on a hook and line fighting because id="hidden18" class="buttons"> of the lactic acid build up in there muscles. So.eone might have caught and released thinking it would be OK but latter died. Second look for stingray barb punctures inside and out of the fish. StingrYs being their favorite food sometimes get lucky with a single blow and can cause a slow death if they get vitals. Then I would check for bruising around gills. Could of had a disagreement with a pod of dolphines. Lastly I would percorm necropsy and check stomach and bowels for blockages of trash or plastics. Other than that time for blood and tissue samples tobe sent off and tested. We once tagged a 9 foot greater hammer that had 12 stingray barbs broken off in its head and mouth.keep us updated. ....وسعت

@luffy6570منذ 3 سنوات Not sure , I study marine biology but just looking at it, since it doesn’t have any injuries or external parasites, it may be because of internal parasite or just natural causes. It’s hard to tell without looking down on a microscopic for the pathogenic agents (I kind of doubt it’s pathogens as well because usually if let’s just say it’s disease, it won’t be just one shark that is affected, it’s all the sharks in the area, so unless there is more than 1 death, it’s probably because of inability to adapt or recover after being hooked or just dying naturally), anyways if you are curious and concerned, contact the nearest marine ecology lab, I’m sure they will be glad to help. Not sure if this will help but I hope you will find the answer soon. ....وسعت

  • @
@sjam17منذ 3 سنوات It may have ingested something that it could not digest. Blood may be caused by the internal organs beginning to breakdown. If it continues, gas from the id="hidden25" class="buttons"> decomposition of internal organs will cause it to swell and eventually breach the outer epidermis. No way to determine cause of death without obvious signs of external trauma, or toxicology tests on the organ or muscle tissues. This needs to be done as soon as possible before decomposition sets in too far. Thanks for sharing.hope you can find someone local to investigate. If you see additional sealife in this condition.then it could very be an environmental issue (by man or nature).good luck! ....وسعت

@frontlinefishing416منذ 3 سنوات Okay I've caught alot of sharks and tagged them in exmouth off Learmonth Beach. Greater hammerhead main food is stingrays . I find it weird that its id="hidden26" class="buttons"> bleeding when nothing visually has been punctured. It could of been caught but been gut hooked . If you dont know what you are doing with hammerhead they will fight to the death .
Two things I can think of its been gut hooked and has died from lack of knowledge on that person part( only way to tell is open the sharks mouth and see if you can see anything in its throat or gut )
Or it has eaten a stingray and a barb has hit something vital( opening it up again)
Thats still a juvenile shark and I would highly doubt it just died
Im curious myself so if you figure it out please make another video.

@uhl3706منذ 3 سنوات Man, just call up the marine sections of James Cook University or whichever Uni is close to you. Record the size, weight and sex of the fish. If you don’t hear from anyone soon, freeze some pieces of the vertebra to be able to determine the age of the shark. I‘m not sure in what scientific context a single individual might be helpful but you can try to find someone.
You could have a look in the guts, what did it eat etc.? Take some samples of tissues like liver, spleen, stomach, brain, etc. store in the freezer. Might not be cold enough but perhaps someone could use those samples. We snap freeze in liquid nitrogen and the samples can be analyzed later.
I‘m quite confident that there are shark project that could use some amateur help in tagging and re capturing fish. Just not sure if a university is keen on support by someone who’s making a living off using their name? But again - ask. If you’re interested in that kind of work I’m sure someone will be happy about your contribution.
